bio | Lisette Lagnado (1961, Kinshasa – Congo) lives in Brazil since 1975, where she has been working as a journalist, art critic, curator, and professor. Her Ph.D. in Philosophy at Universidade de São Paulo developed the concept of Programa ambiental coined by Hélio Oiticica. She organized the archives of the artist available since 2000 at the website “Programa Helio Oiticica” (Itaú Cultural). She also co-coordinated a Course of Post-Studies in Curatorial Practices and Cultural Management at Faculdade Santa Marcelina (2007-2012). In the 1980s, she worked as Editor of several art magazines and from 2001 to 2010 co-edited the online magazine Trópico with Alcino Leite and Esther Hamburger – selected by Platform Magazines at documenta 12. She curated the 27th Bienal de São Paulo (2006), the exhibition “Drifts and derivations” (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madri, 2010) and the 33 Panorama of the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (2013). As a writer, she is the author of monographic essays on José Leonilson, Mira Schendel, Marepe, Rivane Neuenschwander, Laura Lima, Diango Hernandez, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, among others protagonists of the contemporary art scene. Since August 2014, she is directing the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage (Rio de Janeiro).
